Side effects of paracetamol

Paracetamol is a common analgesic  used for the relief of fever,headaches and other minor aches. It is also useful in managing severe pain allowing lower dosages of additional non- steroidal anti inflammatory drugs

Studies have shown that paracetamol is metabolized primarily in the liver where it is converted to inactive compounds by conjugation.

According to University Health Center,Malaysia,a single dose of about 10grams,chronic dose o 6grams per day or chronic doses over4grams per day in patients with conditions which may increase susceptibility to paracetamol toxicity like alcoholism, prolonged fasting.

SIDE EFFECTS

Without timely treatment paracetamol overdose can lead to liver failure withing days

It also causes hive

rash

short breath

if  Tylenol paracetamol is taken beyond recommended dosage,it could cause Tylenol poisoning.
