Why?
Well the Russian Anti Gay Groups sued the Pop star for “moral damage suffered by St. Petersburg residents” which occurred during a recent concert in St. Petersburg on the 9th of August, 2012.
According to one of the Lawyers representing one of the complainants, he said Madonna caused:
“psychological stress and emotiona
l shock” because of her “promotion of homosexuality.”
According to Alexander Pochuyev the Lawyer, he said she trampled on the Orthodox Cross.
Earlier the St. Petersburg Parliament had passed the law that bans:
“propaganda of sodomy, lesbianism, bisexualism and transgenderism, and pedophilia to minors.”
To which Modanna responded on her Facebook page as a” ridiculous atrocity”
She then confirmed her stance by stating during her concert that she was:
“here to say that the gay community and gay people here and all around the world have the same rights to be treated with dignity, with respect, with tolerance, with compassion, with love,”
She also urged the audience who were more than 25,000 to:
“show your love and appreciation of the gay community.”
I think gay marriage shluod be voted on by people of the states. It is a moral issue, not a religious one. There are Protestants, Catholics, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and atheists who oppose gay marriage. It is not like telling someone to pray to Allah 5 x a day or take communion. It is not a central tenet of any one faith, so it does not constitute enforcing one religion on the rest of society, as England did 200 plus years ago. No state ever voted for gay marriage
